I'm A Little Tea Pot

Mrs Hughes makes the teachers a lovely cup of tea. We tell her how to make it step by step.

I’m a little tea pot short and stout,
here’s my handle, here’s my spout.
When it comes to tea time, hear me shout,

“tip me up and pour me out.”

In Reception we enjoy some tea.
Let’s add some more, and take some away.

Mr Chaeter enjoyed our scrummy tea biscuit.

We pour coloured water in to
different sized containers.
Full and half full.

We use our sense of smell and taste different drinks.

Making smelly potions.

Oh No! The Queen of Hearts Has Lost Some Tarts!

The Queen of Hearts sent us a message, can we please help her find her tarts? She thinks the knave has stolen them!

Binoculars? Magnifying lenses? Yes, we're all ready to look for those tarts.

Aha! Our first clue. What does it say?

Clue number 2. Where does it tell us to go next?

We've found them, in the old hall! We'd better write a letter to the Queen and tell her where they are. Then we've earned a jam tart each - yum!

Look at these letters. The Queen is going to enjoy reading them. We'd better go and post them.

All that work has made us feel hungry. Let's find out how to make our own jam tarts.

We can't wait until they're cooked.

Let's play a game with the parachute while we wait . Ready, steady - popcorn!

What are the Reception class looking for? Oh, blackberries.

Time for some fun after all that hard picking.

What else have we collected? Lots of interesting autumn leaves.

Let's paint them and print with them. Look at all of those interesting different shapes, sizes and patterns.

Just adding some more swirls to finish off our starry night time sky painting.

In Reception we've been talking about electricity. We had a visitor who talked to us about how some things have changed since she was young. We asked lots of questions.
Do you recognise her?!

Nursery are having fun at the scarf disco - now up and down and big swirls all around!

Afterwards we drew our own swirls during our Big Writing session.

Reception are creating their own swirly dance to the song It's a Starry Starry Night.

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

After looking at Van Gogh's painting of A Starry Night we're working together to create our own night time painting.

We made swirly patterns with chalk outside.

The children in school have been growing so many things. What a harvest.

Look at our writing patterns.

Our puppet friends, Bella and Luke, have been telling us what they think makes a good friend.

It's been very busy in our restaurant this week.

We're all off to Forest School!

                                                            What's that in the tree?

Look! It's our friend Steve the Sparrow.

Making collages out of natural materials we've collected.

We're singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star .

It's Been a Busy Couple of Weeks Back in School!

We've been getting to know all of our new friends.

Having lots of fun playing together in our 'mud kitchen' -  yummy!

Making a clock for Hickory Dickory for our new topic all about nursery rhymes.

Now, what colour playdough shall we make?

Shall we paint together?

Let's talk About Shapes

It's been another busy week!

We went on shape walk around school.

We're hungry after all that work - let's make sandwiches out of different shapes.

We're enjoying using our new climbing wall.
