Money. Money, Money 

We've been learning about money, can we find any coins in the sand? Then we can spend it in our class shop and cafe.

Let's think about where some of our food comes from. These friends are busy collecting food from the farm.

We read the story of Oliver's Fruit Salad

and decided to make our own. We wrote lists of the fruit we wanted and sent Mrs Hughes shopping.

We ate it in our cafe, delicious!

We even did our own washing up afterwards.

Let's make a graph to find out which fruit most children preferred.

                              

In our maths area we decided to make repeating patterns using different types of beans.

It's Friday so it must be time to go to Forest Schools.

Where are our friends hiding? 'One, two, three where are you?'

Let's look for Bluey our friendly bird.

Found him!

                 We're collecting green things...

   ... to make a very long snake!

'Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to Forest Schools we go.'

Now, where is that Bluey bird hiding today? We've found him!

We're looking for summer clues. We found dandelions, daisies, grass seeds and minibeasts. 

 We wore blind folds to see if we could hear or feel anything without using our eyes.

Scrumptious!

Poor Miss Niman went shopping but didn’t take her list so she forgot to buy our snack! We’ve got bread but nothing to go inside to make a sandwich. What can we do?

We've had an idea – let’s go down to the poly tunnel and pick our own salad leaves to make some sandwiches!

Snip, snip, snip, how many leaves do we need?

First we washed the rocket, next we spread butter on our bread and then we ate them – delicious!

Later in the week we picked our own beetroot, potatoes, peas and spinach. Mrs Stevens cooked them and we tried them all.

We made our own vegetable soup in the water tray.

We've been counting in fives and tens this week and we've had fun making our own hand print number lines.

Let's make Cheerio necklaces, we'll count in fives and tens and write our own number labels.

Oh, Another Busy  WeeK! 

We did lots of teeny tiny challenges.

How long can we make a road out of small blocks?

Let's paint using teeny tiny paintbrushes.

We've been practising all of the different writing patterns we're learning...

 ... and our letters.

Driving this car looks fun!

We even bought cakes from our friends in Year 1 and 2 who have been very busy baking.

We've really enjoyed learning about 

Teeny Tiny Things.

Growing the plants.

Jasper's Beanstalk  - 'He watered, he  mowed, he scraped, then it was massive!'

Sorting out the seeds.

Making  a monster house.

Building the biggest chain.

We did pointillism, little tiny dots.

We looked far away using binoculars.

Of course, this week we said 'Goodbye For Now' to our wonderful Reception teacher

Mrs Finucane.

We made her a cake as a secret and decorated it with teeny tiny sweets.

Let's get this party started!

        Mrs Finucane made us jelly, delicious!

Then we gave her the cake, surprise!

She loved the cards we made her.

We love you Mrs Finucane and will miss you, come back and see us soon!

We’ve been learning about teeny tiny seeds this week…

We listened to the story of 

Jasper's Beanstalk - Mrs Finucane was Jasper and put soil on the floor!

We did lots of measuring and talked about tall and short things.

We investigated lots of different seeds.

We've been busy in our science lab too.

Mrs Stevens gave us a gardening lesson.

Off we go to plant in our garden.

Welcome Back to School!

 It's been lovely meeting our new friends.

We played some 'getting to know you' games.

We sang and played 'Five Little Speckled Frogs' in the water tray.

Some of us went gardening - look at these lovely radish !

We started talking about our new topic 

'Teeny Tiny Things'.

Let's get ready to look for 'Teeny Tiny Things' outside.

These magnifying lenses might come in handy.

We looked carefully and found lots of things.

There are some very interesting tiny things in our garden.

We decorated our names with teeny tiny objects - it was tricky!

We even found tiny footprints in our classroom. Who can they belong to?

We thought they could belong to a teeny tiny monster so we made him some presents.

Miss Niman found a teeny tiny letter!

Who can it be from?

It was so small Mrs Hughes couldn't even read it when she was wearing her glasses.

We had to use the visualiser to help her.

We decided to draw pictures of what we think the friendly tiny monster looks like.

       

            We Loved Pitter Patter Puddle Play!

Last term our topic was Pitter Patter Puddle Play. Here are some of the things we loved doing the most.

“I liked smelling water. Bad water stinks, sea water was a bit stinky.”

“I liked the water cycle.”

“We jumped in the big puddle.”

“We put our feet in cold water. It was freezing.”

“When we drank water, some was cold, some was hot. It takes like nothing and lovely.”

“They put water all over us. Some people got soaking wet.”

“It’s in orange juice.”
