In Reception we have been looking closely at what makes a strong building. This will help us when we build our castles.

It's cold and smooth.

It's bumpy and sticks out.

"You use that round thing to make cement."

Ladies of the Manor showing their designer bracelets.

The farmers gather their livestock.

How many altogether?

Using handwriting patterns to make mono print flags. We will use these to decorate our castle .

We are practising letter formation and writing on a line.

The Lady of the Manor sits on her throne.

I knight you Sir Lancelot.

Welcome back to school everybody!

This half term our topic is called
Dragon Tales.

Some people visited us to talk about what castle life used to be like in medieval times - a lady, a knight, a jester, a chaplain and cook. They might look a little familiar!
We also looked at some photographs of different castles.

We drew plans ready to build our own castle. Now what shall we include - a drawbridge or moat maybe?

Let's set to work. These boxes will make a good wall.

There's room for lots of important visitors!

We've been building castle walls outside too.

These knights are practicing their sword techniques.

Time for some scarf disco. We're finding out how many ways we can make straight lines.

How many times can we lift the parachute - eleven, twelve, thirteen? It's hard work!

Look how clever we are outside. We've made an obstacle course and when we stand on the last crate, we're finding out if our balls will then travel all the way to the end of the guttering. They do!
